Flap discs use diagonal layers of sandpaper on a resin fiber backing. Flaps are glued onto a multi-layer fiberglass or plastic backing plate. New grit is continuously being exposed as the flaps wear down providing consistent performance throughout the life of the disc. The design of flap discs allows them to run cooler reducing warping of thin metals such as body panels.
Type 29 (Beveled) Flap Discs
